Hubby and I have a short trip planned to St. Louis this summer. It's only a 6 hour ride.

My Dad used to work for Santa Fe, back in the days before Amtrak. We took a trip to see my Mom's family once.

Really delighted...and almost kismet that this popped up for me on RUclips. Im from California originally but lived on a small island in the south pacific for 19 years. Will be going back to visit and was thinking of taking a train at some point. Wanted to see nature...travel through areas not accessed via car. Also much respect to all the hard work and lives taken throughout American history to create these routes and hoping to have some nice chill refelective down time I between visits. Liking the roomete idea.

Very helpful. I've been thinking of taking Amtrak's Capitol Limited between D.C. and Chicago and wondering about these three options. A roomette sounds nice but I'm a light sleeper and if I don't sleep at all it might be money wasted.

I'm very surprised to hear that an inland trip is the most scenic ride. Being a water person, I can't imagine any to being better than a coastal ride.

People saving seats just taking them out of use. Should be closed off with crime scene tape.

King Street has No Ammenities for reasons that Greyhound Bus is Just now figuring out, Bums, Crackheads,Thieves. Throw in those $25.00 an hour Wages and it is not worth the trouble for a Rarely used Train.

For those that don't know, Amtrak (Federal Government) owns the Trains not the Tracks. The Tracks are Owned by Either Union Pacific, BNSF, KC Southern, Canadian Pacific, Canadian National, CSX and a Few others. This is why the Freight Trains go First as the Amtrak needs to Call for Track and Time Blocks from those Companies to Complete a Stretch of Track. Then wait for the track ahead to clear Freight Trains Owned by the Company that owns the Tracks and also Other Trains who have already been waiting to use that stretch of Track. Yes Amtrak has it's own Tracks mostly on the East Coast and are Commuter Lines in Dense Areas like Philadelphia, DC and Others. Think of it Like an Airport, only 1 Airplane can be on the runway for Take Off. It is the Same for using a Stretch of Track, A Train may use a Siding after completing a Stretch to let another Train or Trains pass. Then it can re enter the Main Line to continue the next Stretch of Track. Basically A Giant Game of Leap Frog. It takes alot of People to make sure each stretch is Clear for another train to use on any portion of the network of rails. If not 2 Trains could Collide and that is never good.

My late hubby and I enjoyed several journeys on the Coast Starlight and Empire Builder with a roomette and all the perks. The CS had a free wine tasting every afternoon.

Enjoyed the trip. The wife and I have time will travel, Ret Vet.

The problem with Amtrak is freight takes priority. Took the same train, Emeryville to Reno, no problem. The next day coming back the train was six hours late.

I've ridden in coach and bedroom the only thing I didn't like was trying to take a shower in the bedroom and how expensive things were for those of us in coach

The taxpayer and cost accountant in me is wondering about the size of the per passenger subsidy of this slow and nearly empty transport option.

I used to ride from Denver to California when I was little with my mom and sister...Sleeper is the way to go. Finally got to share the adventure with my wife who never has been!! I love trains!! Great adventure! Thank you for taking everyone!

It’s a wonderful trip, I’ve done this trip at least 10 times decades ago when I was in my 20’s. I lived in Ontario then hopped on the train to move to Vancouver. I’m thrilled it’s back in motion.

Did Yall notice all the "reserved" signs in the observation car?. yep not for your regular passenger.

It might be just me but the dimensions don't really inform me well. Tell me how tall you are and... sorry... what you weigh. Then I can judge room size based on whether I'm smaller than you (unlikely) or larger (much more likely). It's like putting a soda can next to something you're photographing for scale.

I use to ride this route back in the 70’s and 80’s! But back then the train started in Oakland l would ride it to Greeley Colo! Just 50 miles north of Denver! This is obviously all new looks like business class airlines! I always had a roomette to myself never heard of shared rooms with a stranger! I ran into John Maden a couple of times! The food in the dinner car was excellent in the beginning but evolved into prefabbed airline meals! That was then and this is now!

American is terrible, domestic and international.

I would have liked it if you had gotten standard accomodations, rather than Billionaire's Row. Not many of your viewers are going to be traveling in the Queen's Grill.

I just finished watching this spectacular video! My mom lived near Vancouver, BC for over years and I was up there many times to see the beautiful views. I was wondering how in the world you filmed all of this? Just spectacular! Thank you so much for taking us along!!

My wife and I when we were first married took an Am Trak trip across country in a full master bedroom opened to another room and I can say we got the best sleep of our lives. Clicity clack, Clicity clack rocking us from side to side was wonderful. When our daughter was 6 years old, we took another two-room connection across America and loved every moment, and our daughter was loved by all the grandmothers along the way.

In 1955 went from las Angeles to Kansas City on the train, Then in Feb 1969 Went from Oceanside, Cal to LA to Kansas City, to Chicago to Washington DC riding in Quantico, VA, this cross county cost me $56 Round trip from LA to KC back to LA on May 1969 was $88.

Great video, it would have been nice if you spent a night in couch to give a review of this. I’m a tall guy , normally a take a roomette. It works good for me. Looking forward to more videos.

I always select my seat in the lower level. It is so much nicer for sleeping. I normally take Amtrak from Grand Forks to Minneapolis and the train is in the middle of the night both directions. That said, I spend most of my time up in the viewing car watching the world go by once there's a little bit of sun to watch it with.

I enjoy watching you on all your 5 star excursions. But I love how a few hours on amtrak has you looking beat 😂
